I love visiting Rotorua. It’s a great part of the country and a place filled with fond memories. As a kid, our family spent many summers in Rotorua. I came to love the smell of the Redwood forest and sulphur, the roar of Okere Falls on the Kaituna River and the crisp, dry air of the Central Plateau.
This Easter, I headed north to Rotorua to spend time with friends. We had an awesome time catching up and chilling out. I loved our walk around the Blue Lake, through the bush and under the redwoods. We had a great time chatting and I enjoyed recalling memories of childhood trips around the lake.
One of the highlights of the trip was the flying fox my mate Jake and I built across the Kaituna River. It was not the fastest flying fox we’ve ever been on (which may not have been a had thing), but it was epic. We had to jump out of a tree and into the roar of the swollen river beneath us.
So much fun. So many new memories.
